Ministry of Interior Enhances Information Response Capacity to Combat Misinformation

PHNOM PENH, July 19, 2024 — Dr. Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has directed officials within the ministry to improve their monitoring and handling of information related to leadership and management. This directive aims to ensure that accurate information is promptly disseminated and explained from all perspectives to the public, particularly to citizens utilizing government services.

During a meeting held on July 18, 2024, with Secretaries of State, Undersecretaries of State, Directors General, and Heads of Units at the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Sar Sokha emphasized the importance of leveraging digital platforms to keep the public informed about the Ministry's activities and to openly receive feedback from the community.

Dr. Sar Sokha instructed the General Commission of National Police, along with various General Secretariats and Departments, to collaborate with the Ministry’s General Department of Digital Technology and Education. This collaboration aims to proactively communicate any significant developments or incidents impacting leadership and management directly to the public, without awaiting further explanations from official spokespersons.

Furthermore, Dr. Sar Sokha called for regular meetings to be convened by the leadership within the Ministry to review, monitor, and evaluate operational strategies, aiming to enhance the drafting of laws, regulations, and policies for their respective units.

The initiative underscores the Ministry's commitment to transparency and responsiveness, reflecting its dedication to combating misinformation and fostering a well-informed citizenry.
